3-Legged Dog Helps Put Spotlight On Puppy Mills

Author To Hold Book Signing

An author is bringing attention to puppy mills with a new book.

Jana Kohl appeared on NewsChannel5 at noon Wednesday to discuss her book, "A Rare Breed Of Love," which brings attention to the conditions of puppy mills throughout the United States.

She mentioned Ohio and Pennsylvania, including Amish communities, as areas where puppy mills are plentiful.

Kohl said her dog, Baby, was rescued from a puppy mill. Baby had one leg amputated because of orthopedic problems caused by nursing her puppies.

Baby, who is about 11 or 12, also has the No. 94 tattooed in her ear. Kohl said she believes the number indicated an accounting system used by the mill.

The book features numerous photos of Baby with celebrities.

You can meet Kohl and Baby Wednesday at 7 p.m. at a book signing at Joseph Beth at Legacy Village in Lyndhurst.

For additional information about the book, go to www.simonsays.com or www.ararebreedoflove.com.
