CLEVELAND -- Ohio Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones will speak at the Democratic National Convention tonight, where she will talk about why she thinks John Kerry will help the country. In an interview with NewsChannel5's Adam Shapiro, Tubbs Jones said John Kerry will bring jobs to Ohio.Tubbs Jones promises to come out swinging when she attacks the Bush record, even though the economy is recovering, reported Shapiro."The number of jobs that have been created as a result of the loss of manufacturing jobs are lower echelon jobs where people are going to work and not getting paid the same wages and they are not able to cover health care," said Tubbs Jones. She says the pending loss of jobs at Timken in Canton is an example of a Bush failure. She also says the Bush tax cuts are to blame for the past recession.Tubbs Jones named Cleveland-based ISG as an example of success.Although Kerry had nothing to do with it, Tubbs Jones says there would be more stories like ISG with Kerry in the White House."Look, for example, at ISG, the steel company that is booming, that has the opportunity to export steel and we never thought that would happen, and the policies of John Kerry and John Edwards can cause other things like that to occur," said Tubbs Jones.Kerry is calling for an increase in the minimum wage to $7, and tax credits for companies that create jobs and keep them in the United States as a way to maintain a strong economy. If you would like to watch Tubbs Jones talk tonight, visit ABCnewsnow.com, which will be carrying the speech live at 9 p.m.
