CLEVELAND -- Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora is temporarily stepping aside from his role as Democratic Party chairman. The party said that letters will be going out with the official announcement. Former Cleveland City Council woman and council clerk Pat Britt will fill in for Dimora beginning July 1. Dimora said that he needs to concentrate on restoring his good name before returning to the position. Dimora has been the subject of a federal corruption investigation, which includes bribes of public officials, NewsChannel5 investigator Duane Pohlman said. He hasn't been charged and denies any wrongdoing. Dimora has also been asked to refrain from voting on issues at County Commissioners' meetings. He said he won't sit out votes because that would look like an admission of guilt. Earlier this month, four men with ties to county government were charged in a widening, yearlong FBI investigation.
