Yoga Creates Relaxation Response

CLEVELAND -- Working hard and burning the candle at both ends could leave you burned out, but getting rejuvenated can be easy, according to NewsChannel5's Lorna Barrett in this week's Simplicity.
Imagine taking a much-needed break, only to realize that you're burned out. Then, you start to feel worse.
"Thinking can become (confusing)," said Dr. Jennifer Corlett, a clinical psychologist. "You might forget things you would ordinarily remember. You might feel fatigued or overly energized."
Corlett, who is the program director at the Ursuline Sophia Center in Pepper Pike, Ohio, suggests meditation, yoga and massage to come down from a rough day and return to work feeling refueled and effective.
Clinical research has proven that yoga helps to create a relaxation response.
Candles, books and aromatherapy are other ways to help battle the burnout.
But what happens when that doesn't help?
"When somebody's feeling overwhelmed and extraordinarily stressed out, it is very important for them to look for help," Corlett said.
Some people find that music helps them calm down, NewsChannel5 reports.
Experts said that nature sounds and instrumental music help calm the mind and body.
