Local Marine Reservists, Sailor To Go On Tour Of Duty In Iraq

BROOK PARK, Ohio -- Marine Reservists from the 3rd battalion, 25th Marines in Brook Park will be shipping out for an eventual tour of duty in Iraq.A send-off ceremony was held Tuesday at the Hilton at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.Forty-one Marines and a sailor will head to California.In September, they will deploy to Iraq.It's an emotional time for both the Marines and their families."I'm excited," said Cpl. Michael Lafferty. "I can't wait to do it again. These are great guys to go with. I'm glad we're going with them."Some of those going were in Iraq in 2005 when 19 Marines from the battallion were killed. Six of them based out of Brook Park.
