NFL Preseason Preview - Washington (2-0) At N.Y. Jets (1-0)

POSTED: 12:08 pm EDT August 12, 2008

(Sports Network) - Brett Favre will make his first live appearance as a New York Jet on Saturday night, when Gang Green's newest signal-caller leads the team into preseason battle against the Washington Redskins at the Meadowlands.

The future Hall-of-Famer Favre, who was dealt from the Packers on August 6th in exchange for a conditional 2009 Draft pick, will be playing for a team other than Green Bay for the first time since the 1991 season.

Favre, a second-round Draft choice of the Falcons in 1991, played in two regular season games with Atlanta before being dealt to the Packers the following February.

The 38-year-old and nine-time Pro Bowl selection is expected to start and play into the second quarter on Saturday, before being relieved by backups Kellen Clemens and Brett Ratliff.

Clemens opened the Jets' 24-20 preseason win over the Browns last week, completing 4-of-6 passes for 31 yards. Ratliff succeeded Clemens and finished out the game, going 14-of-20 for 252 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a bid to make the team as a third-string quarterback.

Rookie cornerback Dwight Lowery joined Ratliff on the list of players who had an impressive night, scoring the game-winning touchdown on a 62-yard punt return in the fourth quarter, and also intercepting a Ken Dorsey pass.

Shaun Ellis (hand) is among the notable Jets who might not see action on Saturday.

While Jets fans are wrapped up in the hoopla of Favre's first appearance, the Redskins will be quietly trying to move to 3-0 in the preseason.

Jim Zorn's club, which opened with a 30-16 win over the Colts in the Hall of Fame Game, followed up that effort with a 17-14 triumph over the Bills on Saturday night.

Quarterback Jason Campbell was sharp for a second straight outing, completing 7-of-10 passes for 71 yards before yielding to backups.

Safety LaRon Landry (hamstring), wide receiver Devin Thomas (hamstring) and defensive end Erasmus James (knee) are among the questionable Redskins players heading into Saturday's contest, and rookie wideout Malcolm Kelly (knee) remains out.

The Jets lead the all-time preseason series with the Redskins, 4-3, breaking a deadlock in the series with a 27-14 road win prior to the 2006 season.

Washington was a 23-20 road winner when the clubs met for a meaningful contest at the Meadowlands last Nov. 4th.
