Steelers Re-Sign Veteran RB Davenport

POSTED: 2:28 pm EST November 27, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed veteran running back Najeh Davenport on Thursday.

Davenport played four games with the Steelers this season before the club released him following Week 9.

In two-plus seasons with Pittsburgh, he has rushed for 768 yards and seven touchdowns on 177 carries and has caught 33 passes for 394 yards and three scores.

To make room for Davenport, the Steelers cut rookie cornerback Roy Lewis, who played in one game this season after spending nine weeks on the practice squad.
