East Rutherford, NJ -- (Sports Network) - A new chapter has begun in the illustrious career of Brett Favre. The future Hall-of-Fame signal-caller completed 5-of-6 passes for 48 yards and one touchdown, but the Washington Redskins held on for a 13-10 win over the New York Jets.It marked the first time since 1991 that Favre suited up for a team other than Green Bay. Favre originally decided to call it quits at a tear-filled press conference last winter, but got an itch to return as the calendar flipped to July and training camp neared, leading to daily chatter about where he would end up playing in 2008. The Packers eventually dealt Favre on August 6 to the Jets in exchange for a conditional 2009 draft pick, ending one of the most storied relationships in the history of the NFL. Favre, who received a standing ovation from the crowd as he took the field, looked sharp in his Jets debut. "(I was) nervous, excited," Favre said. "(There were) some feelings I have not felt in a while, but I was excited." Brett Ratliff connected on 13-of-19 passes for 148 yards for New York (1-1), while David Clowney caught a team-high four passes for 59 yards. Colt Brennan completed 4-of-5 passes for 79 yards and one touchdown for Washington (3-0). Rock Cartwright rushed for a game-high 90 yards on six carries and Ladell Betts amassed 34 yards on the ground before leaving the game with a mild right knee strain. Trailing 10-6 late in the fourth quarter, Brennan led the Redskins on a four-play, 80-yard drive, culminating in a 33-yard touchdown pass to Jason Goode with 1:09 remaining on the clock. Ratliff, unfazed, guided the Jets to the Redskins' five-yard-line with five seconds to play. However, kicker Mike Nugent -- who missed from 43 yards out earlier in the third quarter -- saw his 23-yard attempt clang off the left upright as time expired. The Jets led 7-0 after one quarter on Favre's four-yard touchdown pass to Dustin Keller. "It was a simple play," Favre said of the touchdown. "We had Keller and (Bubba) Franks on two quick outs. Keller had better leverage at the five. Franks had a little trouble getting off the line. It was pretty simple." Washington responded in the early moments of the second quarter with a 30-yard field goal by Shaun Suisham, then capped the opening drive of the second half with Suisham's 36-yard make. New York added to its lead when Nugent kicked a 43-yard field goal with nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
