WEWS Appoints Seitz Director Of New Media

WEWS Channel 5 has named Colleen Seitz as the station’s Director of New Media. In her new position she will oversee all of the station’s efforts in New Media involving developing and executing content on multiple-platforms including newsnet5.com and the station’s mobile website.

Seitz previously was WEWS’ Executive Producer of newsnet5.com where she oversaw the development, creation and launch of the station’s website which is Northeast Ohio’s first television website and currently the top television website in Cleveland. Seitz has managed, developed and trained the station’s staff to deliver content in a 24-hour, seven day a week environment. She came to WEWS in 1992 as a news producer.

“Colleen has been a valuable member of the WEWS team for the past 17 years and has been a leader in our commitment to delivering news online and in new ways,” said WEWS Vice President and General Manager Viki Regan, “We look forward to her continued leadership as we develop new ways of delivering news and weather for Northeast Ohio.”

Prior to coming to WEWS Seitz worked as a producer for WKRC in Cincinnati and WCMH and WSYX in Columbus. Seitz has won numerous awards during her career in television and online news management including the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists award for Best TV Website.

“I’m excited for this great opportunity to lead WEWS’ New Media Department,” said Seitz, “I’ve grown to know the people of Northeast Ohio and will continue to cover stories from our communities and develop new ways to deliver local news and information.”

Currently Seitz serves on the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Center for Broadcasting where she works to develop curriculum as an advisory committee member. She also serves as a speaker to various classes about new media.

Seitz is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University where she has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Spanish. She is married and has a son and daughter. Seitz was born and raised in Columbus.
