Ytown mayor, former auditor in corruption case

Youngstown Mayor John McNally and former Mahoning County Auditor Michael V. Sciortino pled guilty to several counts in a public corruption case involving the relocation of the Mahoning County Job and Family Services Department, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty and Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced on Friday.

McNally, who is a former Mahoning County Commissioner, pled guilty to two counts of falsification, one count of attempted unlawful use of a telecommunication device, and one count of attempted unlawful influence of a public official.

Sciortino pled guilty to one count of unlawful interest in a public contract, one count of falsification, and one count of receiving or soliciting improper compensation.

Officials said both McNally and Sciortino agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in the ongoing case. 

A sentencing has been scheduled for March 28.
