MARIEMONT, Ohio - Water rescue crews have suspended the search for a man who was swimming in the Little Miami River with a group of people in Mariemont, east of downtown Cincinnati, Tuesday night.
Police said the search began just along the river before 9 p.m. near the 6000 block of Mariemont Avenue behind the Mariemont community pool.
Authorities say six people were swimming in the river, but only five made it to shore. Police were called to the scene and rescue crews began their search for the sixth swimmer who was identified as a male.
Officials suspended the search just before midnight and will resume efforts around 8 a.m.
Police have not identified the names or ages of those involved. Police say the other five swimmers were OK.
Anderson Township and Cincinnati police assisted with the rescue efforts, but no other details were released at this time.
