Police make arrest in Fremont bar shooting that killed police officer

FREMONT, Ohio - A man has been arrested in a bar shooting that killed a police officer in Sandusky County over the weekend. 

Igmidio Mista, 33, of Fremont, was arrested and charged with the murders of three people, including an off-duty Elmore Police officer after police say he opened fire at Last Call bar on the 500 block of West State Street in Fremont, Ohio.

Police say he hit four people, killing three:

  • Ramiro Sanchez, 28, who was employed as the bartender
  • Daniel Ramirez, 25, who was a patron of the bar
  • Jose "Andy" Chavez, 26, who was an off-duty Elmore Police Officer

Ramiro Arreola, 25, a patron of the bar, was struck as well. He was treated and released from a local hospital.

Mista was arrested at a home on South Park Avenue in Fremont and was transported to jail and is being held pending a hearing.

Police noted that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers have made contact with the department and will be in contact with the consulate in the Philippines about Mista's residency status.
