OSHP: Car stopped with boxes of counterfeit merchandise on Ohio Turnpike

PERRYSBURG, Ohio - An Illinois man was pulled over and arrested after troopers uncovered counterfeit merchandise in his car on the Ohio Turnpike.

It happened at 10:15 a.m. Thursday during a traffic stop in Wood County. Troopers stopped a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan, with Illinois registration for a marked lanes violation near milepost 71 of the Ohio Turnpike.

A consent search found 2,592 knit hats with professional sport logos, 940 sets of contact lenses, 240 animal hats and 80 fluid filled flip lighters in the car.

The driver, Yoon Keol Chung, 47, of Mt. Prospect, Ill., was charged with trademark counterfeiting and criminal simulation.

He is being held in Wood County Jail. If convicted, he could face up to three years in prison and a $10,000 fine
