COLUMBUS, Ohio - A just-released employment report found 9,500 Ohioans lost jobs last month, according to the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.
Hardest hit are workers in the construction industry that lost 7,000 jobs, followed by service-providing industries that saw 6,900 jobs disappear in March, 5,200 workers in leisure and hospitality jobs and 4,300 more in education and health services.
According to the report, 5,137,000 Ohioans were employed in March in nonagricultural jobs.
Despite the job loses, the total number of of workers unemployed in Ohio in March dropped from 443,000 in February to 438,000 last month.
Ohio's overall unemployment rate now stands at 7.5 percent.
