FAIRFIELD, Ohio - A Butler County infant was hospitalized Monday after being burned while playing at a Fairfield day care center.
The 13-month-old was in a classroom at Jelly Bean Junction Daycare when he pulled on a cup of hot water that was sitting on a counter.
Attorney Eric Deters, who is representing the child's mother, said the cup was left on the counter by an employee.
The infant was burned on his neck, chest and arms. Emergency crews were called to the scene. The child is currently being treated at Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Deters said the day care has offered to pay $10,000 for the burns.
The incident happened during a "free play" period. There were seven other children in the room during the time of the incident, according to a report.
