CLEVLEAND - Three accidents within hours of each other may have something in common.
The first happened in Madison Township just after 10:30pm Saturday.
Madison Township Police and Fire responded to the intersection of Griswald and South Madison Road, where a maroon 2002 Honda, driving westbound on Griswald, drove off the road and rolled onto a grassy embankment. The 52-year-old male driver and 36-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The identification of the victims is being not being released pending notification of family.
At 2:30a.m. Sunday on US 30 in Mansfield, a 2006 Infiniti G35 driven by 31-year-old Victor Mohr of Mansfield, drove off the north edge of the roadway. The car crossed the median and hit 33-year-old Vanessa Schaefer of Mansfield, head on in the westbound lanes.
Schaefer was transported from the scene by Mifflin fire department to Ashland Samaritan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Mohr was ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Mansfield Post was assisted on the scene by Mifflin Fire Department, ODOT, Richland County Sheriff's Department and Ashland Post units.
At the same time as the Mansfield accident, in Stark County, a 2002 Dodge Stratus driven by 19-year-old Corey Wagner, went off the right side of Fohl Road when Wagner lost control. The car overturned, and landed on its top. Wagner was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken by EMS to Aultman Hospital with minor injuries.
Also in the vehicle with Wagner were 17-year-old Alexander King and 17-year-old Tyler Weisgarber. King fled the scene of the accident, but eventually was located by Navarre Police. He was taken by EMS to Mercy Hospital with minor injuries.
Weisgarber, who was the passenger in the back seat, was trapped inside the car. He was removed from the car by EMS and taken to Mercy Hospital where he is in critical condition.
In all these crashes, alcohol is believed to be a factor.
The three incidents remain under investigation.
