Grand jury to reconvene in Steubenville rape case

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - A grand jury investigating whether other crimes were broken in the case of an eastern Ohio girl raped last year planned to hear more evidence Friday.

One of the chief issues before the panel meeting in Steubenville is whether adults, such as coaches or school administrators, knew of the allegation but failed to report it as required by state law.

The 14-member grand jury, which last met about six weeks ago, has been meeting on and off since beginning work in late April.

Attorney General Mike DeWine has said he can't give a timeline for the panel's work.

DeWine announced the grand jury March 17, the day a judge convicted two Steubenville high school football players of raping the West Virginia girl in August 2012.
