MASON, Ohio - Warren County police say that a dinosaur at the new Kings Island exhibit "Dinosaurs Alive!" caught fire Tuesday at about 8:40 p.m., sending up a long plume of smoke that drew the attention of people traveling on a nearby interstate highway.
Kings Island public relations manager Don Helbig said the fire occurred during construction of one of the dinosaurs. The Kings Island Fire Department was the first on the scene and the fire was quickly contained.
No injuries were reported.
Investigators are not sure how the fire started at this time, but an investigation is ongoing. No other information has been released.
Helbig says the new exhibit is still scheduled to open Thursday, May 26.
Billowing smoke was captured on video by people traveling on Interstate 71, alongside Kings Island.
