DAYTON, Ohio (WCPO) - Authorities say a suspect accused of firing shots inside the Dayton VA Medical Center is in custody at Good Samaritan Hospital, according to WCPO in Cincinnati.
Police responded to a report of an active shooter at the center at 4100 W 3rd St. just after 12:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, WCPO partner station WHIO reports.
Police put the center on lockdown and searched room-to-room. Officers said there were shots fired in the building, but have not said if anyone was shot.
An employee at the center told WHIO that employees were locked down in their offices. They were ordered not to leave by police.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office blocked all roads leading to the campus. Dozens of police cruisers were still on the scene at 1:20 p.m. and were searching between and underneath vehicles in the parking lot, according to WHIO’s report.
