Soda consumption linked to asthma

CLEVELAND - Australian researchers say drinking soft drinks could put you at higher risk for asthma and lung disease.

Researchers looked at nearly 17,000 people 16-years-old and older living in South Australia.

They found that more than 13 percent of participants with asthma reported consuming more than 16 ounces of soda a day.

Nearly 16 percent of those with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease reported drinking that as well.

Researchers say the findings show there is an association between drinking soft drinks and getting asthma or lung disease.
