CLEVELAND - For the first time in over a decade, Ohio's 14th Congressional district will have a new voice. Congressman Steven LaTourette is retiring at the end of 2012, opening the seat up to a new representative.
Dale Blanchard is the man asking district 14 voters to send him to Washington. Blanchard lives in Solon, with his wife, where he is a practicing accountant.
Blanchard, a democrat, has lived in the 14th district for more than 20 years. The newly redrawn 14th district includes the eastern most part of Cuyahoga County, all of Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties, as well as parts of Summit, Portage and Trumbull Counties.
We asked Blanchard why he was running for Congress, what makes him a better candidate than his opponent, whether it is a challenge to represent a district with a well mix of democrats and republicans, pressing issues with the district, and as a freshman Congressman, who he would seek advice from within the Northeast Ohio Congresspersons.
