As Ohio goes, so goes the nation.
Hillary Clinton is set to return to Ohio on Monday to continue her attempts to bolster support in the crucial swing state one day before the state's voter registration deadline.
A recent survey by Public Policy Polling shows Clinton with a 1 percent edge over Donald Trump, with her at 44 percent and Trump at 43 percent.
Ohio's 18 electoral votes make up 6.6 percent of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the general election. Historically, Ohioans have cast votes for the winning presidential candidate 93 percent of the time, 27 times out of 29 elections. Ballotopedia says that's more than any other state in the nation.
Clinton will speak at the Ohio State University and urge attendees to turn out on take part of early voting that begins on Wednesday, Oct. 12. At the public Ohio Democratic Party event, she is expected to lay out her plans to build an equitable economy, according to a campaign report.
The voter registration event will begin at 7:30 p.m., and doors will open to the public at 4:30 p.m. The event will be on the South Oval at Ohio State. Anyone interested in the event can RSVP here.
Ohio has recently been subject to several controversies around voter registration. Secretary of State Jon Husted was recently sued by the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio and a New York-based advocacy group for what they claim as illegal purging registered voters.

A district court ruled in that case that the voter purge was unconstitutional and the process violates federal law. Voters are urged to check their registration status here ahead of Wednesday's deadline.
