CLEVELAND - Voters in Cuyahoga County may have had fewer days to cast early in person ballots this year than they did by this time in 2008, but it hasn't impacted the numbers.
Through Tuesday at the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections 12,771 people had voted in person, that's compared to 10,616 for the same stage of the '08 campaign.
This is despite the fact that there have been five fewer days that the board has been open to voters this year and despite reduced hours.
They've only been open to 5 p.m. this year compared to 7:30 p.m. this year. All BOE's will be open, beginning next Tuesday until 7 p.m.
The average vote total each day the board has been open this year is 1,277 compared to 707 four years ago at this time.
That average in 2008 jumped, however, to 1,552 by the end of the campaign fuled by overwhelming numbers in the final week.
In the end 54,340 voted early in person in 2008.
The busiest day in 2008 came on the Thursday before Election Day when 4,583 voted.
As for the weekend before, which will this year now be open for voting, the Cuyahoga County numbers were 3,748 voting on Saturday and 2,438 on Sunday.
