Jimmy Dimora sues Northeast Ohio Correctional Center after slipping in puddle

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora has filed a lawsuit against the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center and the Corrections Corporation of America seeking $25,000 in damages for physical, financial and severe emotional distress.

Dimora was moved to a medium-security federal prison in Victorville, Calif. in March after he was convicted of 22 bribery related counts and sentenced to 28 years in federal prison.

Immediately after his conviction until at least December of 2012 Dimora was housed in the privately-owned Northeast Ohio Correctional Center.

His suit claims that he fell in May 2012 in a pool of water caused by a leaky roof that the prison failed to adequately repair.

Dimora has filed an appeal to his conviction.
