Bedford Heights - Bedford Heights officials want the issue of renaming the Jimmy Dimora Community Center to be decided by the city's voters.
Mayor Fletcher Berger and Philip Saunders, the city council's president, have requested the issue appear on the Nov. 6 general election ballot, according to a news release from the mayor's office.
The release said officials have heard from citizens on both sides of the issue. The release said some citizens "strenuously object" to removing Dimora's name from the center, while others are "adamant" his name be removed.
"The final say on this issue belongs to Bedford Heights voters," Berger said. The news release said Berger and Saunders are confident the city council will support legislation to place the issue on the November ballot.
