CLEVELAND - More than 1.6 million Ohioans have requested absentee ballots or already cast their votes for the Nov. 6 election, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted said.
With exactly two weeks to go until Election Day, residents can vote early in-person at their county's Board of Elections. Those voting by mail still have until Nov. 3 at noon to request an absentee ballot.
"Whether by mail, or in person, Ohioans are turning out to vote," Husted said, in a news release on Tuesday. "Not only is the 2012 election running smoothly so far, but every voter has the same level of access thanks to work we've done to ensure uniformity in how Ohio's elections are run."
Husted also provided the following numbers on the 2012 general election:
- 7.9 million Ohioans are currently registered to vote.
- Nearly 6.9 million absentee ballot applications were sent out to Ohio voters over the course of two statewide mailings.
- 189,190 Ohioans have cast an absentee ballot in person at the board of elections or designated early vote center
