Ohio state troopers discover $14,000 of marijuana in car during traffic stop

HAMILTON, OH - A routine traffic stop turned into a pair of drug busts for the Ohio State Patrol Monday night.

Troopers stopped a 2002 Acura, with an Ohio registration, on Interstate 75 southbound for a marked lanes violation at 8:58 p.m.

Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers say they detected an odor of burnt marijuana, leading to a probable cause search of the vehicle.

The troopers found three pounds of marijuana, worth nearly $14,000 on the rear passenger floorboard and $14,916 in cash in the center console.

The driver, David E. Gretchen, 34, of Hamilton, OH. was arrested and charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana, both third-degree felonies.
