Video Vault: Geauga Lake's new coaster for 1988, Raging Wolf Bobs opens

$2 million ride sold for a mere fraction in 2007

AURORA, Ohio - How soon we forget.

With great fanfare, Geauga Lake celebrated its 100th birthday in 1988 with the addition of a new $2 million roller coaster.

Raging Wolf Bobs was a wooden coaster in the style of the Bobs at Riverview Park in Chicago. Its highest hill was 80 feet and the coaster reached a top speed of 50 mph.

WEWS sent our entertainment reporter David Moss, The Mossman, to try out the two-minute-long wooden ride.

Mossman interviews a representative of the American Coaster Enthusiasts. ACE, he tells us, is also celebrating an anniversary in 1988, its 10th. Mossman also talks to kids whose reactions range from giddy to horrified.

Now if memory serves me, the Geauga Lake version of the Bobs was on the edge of park property near the property line with the former Sea World Park. Geauga Lake fans, please help me out here.

Roller coaster database website rcdb.com says when Cedar Fair shut down the park, it sold the $2 million wooden thrill ride for $2,500.
