Which fast food restaurant, Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's, have best and worst drive-throughs?

It's lunch time and you're in a hurry. Your first thought is to head to a "fast food" joint to get a quick bite to eat .

A recent study by QSR magazine and Insula Research studied the best and worst drive-through operations at fast food restaurants for 14 years.

The study found fast food chain Wendy's is your best bet for a quick meal. Burger King, it appears, will make you wait the longest.

According to the study, Wendy's completes drive-thru orders in 129.75 seconds on average, nearly 40 seconds less than the national average and 20 seconds faster than its closest competitor.

The fastest drive-thrus according to the 2012 study were:

1. Wendy's -- 129.75 seconds

2. Taco Bell --149.69 seconds

3. Bojangles' -- 171.61 seconds

4. Krystal -- 175.94 seconds

5. McDonald's -- 188.83 seconds

6. Chick-fil-A -- 190.06 seconds

7. Burger King -- 201.33 seconds

A.J. Fox, director of marketing and sales at Insula Research, told Yahoo's The Daily Ticker that drive-thru sales account for 50% to 70% of profits for the fast food industry. Drive-thru speeds are so important that some companies view drive-thru techniques as trade secrets.

But does speedy service sacrifice customer service and accuracy?

The study found that Chick-fil-A, which came in 6th place for speedy drive-thrus, filled orders correctly 92.4% of the time, Taco Bell was second (91.2%) and McDonald's was third (90.9%).

Wendy's focus on speed may be the cause of it's 89.9% accuracy rate, but they still beat Burger King's 83% rate.
