YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Organizers of an effort to save portions of the historic Detroit-area factory where Rosie the Riveter once worked failed to set a new Rosie record.
Save the Bomber Plant activists attempted Wednesday evening to set the world record for the largest number of Rosie the Riveters in one place.
There's no current record, but in order to establish one, they needed a turnout of at least 250 appropriately dressed Rosies.
Ann Arbor News reports
143 Rosies showed up.
The record attempt was part of an ongoing effort to raise the millions necessary to save part of the former Willow Run bomber plant in Ypsilanti Township.
Organizer Jane Vass says she'll likely try again in April for the record.
