The Swedish Academy has reportedly stopped trying to reach Bob Dylan, who has not yet publicly acknowledged winning the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Dylan, 75 -- who has also not responded to the academy’s attempts to contact him -- is the first songwriter and the first American since 1993 to receive the award, Time reports.

“Right now we are doing nothing,” Sara Danius, the Swedish Academy’s permanent secretary, reportedly told state radio SR. “I have called and sent emails to his closest collaborator and received very friendly replies. For now, that is certainly enough.”

Dylan also has not said whether he will attend the Dec. 10 gala in Stokholm honoring the winners.

"If he doesn't want to come, he won't come,” Danius said, according to The Telegraph. “It will be a big party in any case and the honor belongs to him.

She added, "I am not at all worried. I think he will show up."
