The popular ice cream company, Ben & Jerry's has taken a stand in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
On their website, the company released a post titled "Why Black Lives Matter." Within it they said, "They matter because they are children, brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers. They matter because the injustices they face steal from all of us — white people and people of color alike. They steal our very humanity."
The post then went on to talk about systemic racism, and ending injustice by saying:
"We ask people to be open to understanding these issues, and not to reflexively retreat to our current beliefs. Change happens when people are willing to listen and hear the struggles of their neighbor, putting aside preconceived notions and truly seeking to understand and grow. We’ll be working hard on that, and ask you to as well."
The blog post was also shared on their Facebook and Twitter. On both accounts, they captioned the post and said they were making a statement because "Choosing to be silent in the face of such injustice is not an option."

The post has received mixed reactions on social media.
This isn't the first time that the company has taken a stand. Proceeds from their 2016 election flavor "Empower Mint" went to the North Carolina NAACP to support voter registration and GOTV efforts.
