AKRON, Ohio - As winter draws near, the Akron Zoo is preparing by lowering admission prices and changing its hours.
Beginning Nov. 1 and lasting through April 30, admission to the Akron Zoo will only be $6 per person. Children under two are always free. Parking is $2.
In addition, the zoo will be open daily from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
And these aren't the only changes.
The zoo will allow visitors to feed the penguins from Dec. 1 – Feb. 29 when temperatures are 55 degrees or below. For a $3 fee to the Penguin Exhibit, you will be able to feed the penguins from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The carousel will remain open through November and people can still feed the farm animals through the entire winter season, zoo officials said.
The majority of the zoo's animals will be viewable during the winter months. Most of the animals that cannot handle cold weather have indoor exhibits that make them viewable year-round.
The zoo will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
