SEFFNER, Fla. - Officials in Hillsborough County, Florida have released video showing the initial inspection inside the sinkhole that swallowed and took the life of 37-year-old Jeff Bush on Feb. 28.
The video shows the view from a camera looking down into the middle of the hole which opened up under Bush's bedroom. His body was never recovered after engineers determined it was not safe to try to go into the hole.
The home was later torn down and the sinkhole filled in.
In a related development, neighbors who lived next to Bush have learned they are losing their homes.
The Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners asked two other families on Faithway Street to leave while the properties were examined. Geophysical tests have now determined the grounds were unstable and sinkhole activity was detected in the soil at both homes. The homes have now been condemned.
The Board of Commissioners said in order for the owners to return to their homes to retrieve personal belongings, they need to arrange for a third party engineer to determine if any further ground movement is detected before they can go inside.
