We've all heard the stories. When the full moon rises, strange things can happen. Now a new study has found that the full moon can affect a person's sleep patterns.
The study is in the journal "Cell Biology". It suggests people get less and lower quality sleep around the time of the full moons.
Participants in the study got an average of 20 minutes less sleep around full moons and researchers also found it took them about 5 minutes longer to fall asleep.
Deep sleep also decreased about 30 percent compared to sleep during a new moon.
Researchers admit the number of participants in the study was relatively small, so they aren't sure if the results would hold up in a wider population.
