A massive sinkhole threatens the football field at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Originally, it appeared to be only five feet wide.
Austin Peay PIO Bill Persinger told ABC News affiliate News 2 in Nashville that crews discovered the sinkhole is much bigger once they tried to fix it.
It now measures about 40 feet wide and 40 feet deep
Persinger said, “There is a limestone base underneath us. That limestone is porous and rain dissolves limestone so over centuries it creates a giant void and we end up with sinkholes like we have today."
No injuries have been reported.
