Idaho cop shoots family dog outside 9-year-old's birthday party, drops f-bomb & tickets the father

Officer on administrative leave

A cop in Filer, Idaho is on administrative leave and facing national criticism after he shot a family dog outside a 9-year-old boy's birthday party.

When officer Tarek Hassani responded to a call about dogs running loose, he was surrounded by a couple of them as soon as he got out of his car.

His dashcam caught everything that followed.

First, he kicked at the dogs and then he fired at one, a 7-year-old black lab named "Hooch."

After calling dispatch to tell them what he did, Hassani went to the front door of the home to speak with Hooch's owner, Rick Clubb.

The officer soon gets into a verbal altercation with Clubb, yelling, "I just shot your dog because it tried to bite me. I come here for a f***ing call and it tried to bite me!"

He gave Clubb a ticket before he left. But the video, which has spread far and wide online, has animal lovers outraged.

Hundreds braved bad weather to support Clubb and Hooch.

Law enforcement officials say the problem may be that officers have no formal training for situations involving animals. Filer has no dedicated animal control officers.
