PORTLAND, Ore. - An Oregon community is helping Girl Scouts duped by cookie hoax.
The Girl Scout troop was excited after a Portland, Oregon company ordered 6,000 boxes of cookies. They were all ready to deliver the $24,000 worth of cookies until they found out the person behind the company's order didn't work there.
"We were going to go to camp and help the homeless shelter," one Girl Scout said about plans for the money raised.
Left with all those boxes of cookies, an emergency sale was organized at their Portland headquarters and it is off to a good start.
Supporters helped out the girls buying more than half of the inventory, helping them reap $12,000.
The troop will have another sale next week.
