America's best small towns: Three northeast Ohio towns make the cut

CLEVELAND - Sure, the winters are rough and some of the jobs have left the area.

But northeast Ohio is still a great place to live, and it is home to three of the top 100 cities in CNN Money's list of America's Best Small Towns .

Solon is the top ranked town in Ohio, and the third ranked town on the overall list.

Solon is home to employers Nestle, L'Oreal and Swagelok, and the publication cites access to world-class healthcare at the Cleveland Clinic as a contributing factor to the suburb's high ranking.

The next best northeast Ohio town on the list is Highland Heights, which ranked 30th. CNN Money said the suburb's low property crime rate, newly renovated community park and pool are attractive features for residents.

Right behind Highland Heights is Twinsburg, which ranked 32nd. The publication said the annual Twins Day Festival is a great event, and also said that business is looking up in the town after the Cleveland Clinic recently opened a facility there.

The other two Ohio towns on the list are Mason (24) and Springboro (42).

The top city on the list is Louisville, Colorado, a sunny town nestled into the Rocky Mountains with good jobs in technology, energy and aerospace.

The publication determined the list by using statistics such as job growth, safety, affordability, arts and leisure, school quality and diversity. All of the towns have a population between 8,500 and 50,000.
