Warrensville Heights woman to compete on Let's Ask America tonight

WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio - Charmel Joiner of Warrensville Heights will compete on "Let's Ask America " tonight at 7:30 p.m. for a chance to win up to $50,000.

"Let's Ask America" is the TV game show where contestants can win money from the comfort of their own homes. Four contestants are chosen to play the game via Skype, answering questions about fun and irreverent topics to find out what people are thinking.

Joiner, 45, said if it wasn't for her mother who faithfully watches Let's Ask America, she probably wouldn't have had the opportunity to appear on her first game show.

After she asked her mother, "Are those contestants playing this game via Skype," she immediately Googled the show to find out what the game was about. Within 24 hours of putting in her application to be a contestant, she received an email and then a call from one of the casting directors.

For her shoot, she took a little piece of her from several dimensions to display her personality.

"I had pictures of my travels to London, England, African instruments, jazz albums, postcards, books on African Americans in Cleveland and fresh cut flowers fused together on a small wood panel," she said.

When her package from the game show arrived with game cards, a souvenir mug, t-shirt and other goodies, she thought to herself, "This is real. Now the fun begins."

Tune in to NewsChannel 5 tonight at 7:30 p.m. to see Joiner compete to win up to $50,000 on "Let's Ask America!"
