School district employees without paychecks Friday, cite Huntington Bank-First Merit merger glitch

MUNROE FALLS, Ohio - Hundreds of school district employees were crossing their fingers for a direct deposit Friday; and the treasurer of Stow-Munroe Falls City Schools, David Osborne, told News 5 it's because of issues with the Huntington - First Merit merger.

News 5 looked into several concerns posted on the News 5 Cleveland Facebook page, including comments like this one:

"Every single person that works for Stow-Monroe city school district woke up without a paycheck in their account. The merger messed up everything this morning."

We reached out to district treasurer, David Osborne, to find out what happened.

"It is the result of the merger and the fact it was the first time through for us and for Huntington Bank," he said.

It was a glitch, he says, that affected the wiring of all 852 direct deposits.

"We've experienced an electronic wrinkle," he said.

Osborne told News 5 the checks typically go through around midnight; so, when they didn't, the phone started ringing. Osborne said no one expressed anger, just concerns. 

"My pay isn't there. I have some automatic withdrawals and different things," he cited as an example.

Osborne told News 5 the district is confident they'll work it out and get everyone paid today and on time from now on. 

"I apologize to everybody! That it's caused heart palpitations or concerns for," he said. 

UPDATE: Stow-Munroe Falls City School District worked with Huntington Bank.
