Ohio Attorney General: No timeline for grand jury in Steubenville High School rape case

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says he can't offer a timeline for when a grand jury will finish considering whether other crimes might have occurred in the rape of a 16-year-old West Virginia girl last year.

In March, a judge convicted two Steubenville High School football players of raping the girl after an alcohol-fueled party.

A grand jury that last met in mid-August is waiting on outside forensic work before resuming its investigation into the case. One of the key issues before the grand jury is whether adults who are required to report crimes knew early on of the rape but didn't say anything.

DeWine tells WTOV-TV he's sorry the process is taking so long but remains committed to finding the truth and making sure it is definitive.
