A Wayne County business is calling off its 2017 Easter egg hunt after a 'tense' experience over the weekend.

Peter Graham Dunn, owner of P. Graham Dunn in Dalton, Ohio, said on the company's Facebook page that workers were overwhelmed by the large response.

"Twice as many people showed up as we expected," Dunn wrote. "We did not expect, or staff for such a turn out. We had 8,000 eggs ready, spent over $1,000 on just the candy alone, and what was intended as a celebration turned into a tense experience for many."

According to the company, next year's hunt will be postponed until they can "figure out how to make [it] a positive experience for the CHILDREN."

Candy company Pez had a similar experience over the weekend. Pushy parents were blamed for causing a scene during the company's Easter egg hunt. Organizers said the groups were supposed to have staggered start times but some parents didn't wait.

People who attended the hunt took to Facebook to comment on the event, calling it "a joke" and blaming "greedy parents" for ruining the hunt. The event ended early. No injuries were reported.
