WOOSTER, Ohio - After a tenant was evicted from a house in Rittman, the Wayne County Humane Society was called in to remove 25 cats found living in the home.
When the officers arrived at the home over the weekend, they found the landlord's estimate was a little low. The two officers spent eight and a half hours inside the feces-filled home and ended up recovering 48 felines.
Stuart Mykrantz, the Executive Director of the Wayne County Humane Society, said that about two-thirds of the cats were semi-feral, making them unlikely to be adopted. Most of the rest are sick, and a few are friendly.
Mykrantz said they have not been able to meet with the owner of the cats, but hope to soon to get her to sign off on them so at least a handful of them can be put up for adoption by the end of the week.
