Man shot, left lying on New Philadelphia street

Suspect arrested, but not named

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio - A man was found lying in a New Philadelphia street after being shot Wednesday evening.

New Philadelphia police officers were called to Ashwood Lane near 4th Street NW around 7:40 p.m. where they discovered the victim.

According to the police department, the suspect went back into his house after the shooting. That's when officers from New Philadelphia and Dover, as well as the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office, surrounded the house. Police said they left a message on the suspect's phone and he soon left the house.

The suspect was arrested, but police are not releasing his name until he is formally charged on Thursday.

The victim was taken to Aultman Hospital in Canton by medical helicopter, where he remains. His name is also being withheld by police.
