Patrona Laynez Raymundo, a pregnant woman reported missing since Monday, sent text messages and posts to give the impression she had been abducted when really she was on her way to Florida, police said on Wednesday.
Dover police said Wednesday Raymundo was found safe in Homestead, Fla. around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. She told police she willingly took a bus to Florida to visit a friend.
According to police. there may have been some domestic violence issues at home for Raymundo. She sent text messages and posts to give the impression she had been abducted, but police said it was all made up.
Officials said prosecutors will review the case, but Raymundo may not be charged.
Dover police released the following statement regarding the case:
Throughout the day today, Dover Police Department continued to work with Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations, FBI, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Homestead Police Department in Homestead Florida in attempt to locate Patrona Laynez Raymundo.
Although we had not ruled out foul play, as originally reported, we had also received information indicating that she may have been heading to Florida to visit a friend. We wanted to be thorough and check all possible leads. We wanted Patrona to know that she was not in any trouble and that our main concern was to know that she was safe.
At 19:29 Captain Detective Chad Mowrer received a call from Detective Salinas from Homestead Police Department reporting he had went to the residence of Patrona’s friend and had spoken to Patrona. He confirmed her identity and she told him that she was not abducted in Dover and left on her own free will. She travelled to Florida to visit a friend and was well and she was safe.
