A complaint has been filed in Juvenile Court against a 17-year-old suspected of killing his father's girlfriend, Darlene Renner, in March.

Tuscarawas County Prosecuting Attorney Ryan Styer announced on Friday that he prepared the complaint and Chief Sheriff's Deputy Orvis Campbell sworn to and filed the complaint in Juvenile Court against the 17-year-old.

The 17-year-old, formerly of Dennison, was accused of being a delinquent child for purposely causing the death of Renner on March 17. This would be a crime of murder if he was an adult, according to authorities.

The boy originally called police and told them an intruder broke into his home and stabbed Renner.

Styer also filed a motion with the Juvenile Court requesting the 17-year-old be transferred to the Common Pleas Court so he may be tried as an adult.

Authorities said on Monday, the Sheriff's Office found clothing, other articles, and a possible murder weapon from the Midvale area. The recovery was possible due to an alert passerby who noticed some items along the road about 2.5 miles from the murder scene. The articles gave police a clear suspect to the murder, according to officials.

The 17-year-old was arrested on March 17 and was also accused of causing barn fires in a previous year.

The boy was remanded to a juvenile detention center where he remains.
