NORTON, Ohio - A NewsChannel5 viewer helped solve a violent Summit County robbery case in which three people held up an Internet café at gunpoint.
The robbery happened Oct. 28 at the Copper Mine Internet Café on Barber Road in Norton.
On Monday, police said two arrests were made in connection with the case and a warrant was issued for a third suspect.
Police said a viewer tip led them to identify a woman robber in the surveillance video as 19-year-old Jelicia Wilder of Akron. She told investigators that the masked robber – who also pistol-whipped the female employee – was 19-year-old Emear Gibson of Akron.
Wilder turned herself in to police Sunday night and will be arraigned by video Monday afternoon. Gibson was arrested at his mother's house Friday.
Officers said a warrant was issued for a third suspect, 22-year-old Brandon Scurry of Akron.
All are facing aggravated robbery charges.
Police have not charged the three in connection with another robbery at the café on Sept. 30, but said Gibson is a suspect in that case.
According to detectives, Wilder and Gibson were both aware of and monitored the stories NewsChannel5 posted on newsnet5.com about the robberies.
