Unclaimed remains of veterans discovered in Akron funeral home given proper military burial

RITTMAN, Ohio - Veterans and community members came together to honor local veterans in a proper military burial.

It all started when The Missing In America Project (MIAP) discovered the unclaimed cremated remains of 13 United States Veterans in an Akron Funeral Home.

The Dunn-Quigley funeral home worked with the MIAP to identify the Veterans.  They discovered the veterans served in WWII, Vietnam and the Korean War.

The remains of one of the veterans' wives were also identified.  The remains were identified as:

PFC Jon Clayton Barrett, Marine Corps

AIC William Donald Bunn,  Air Force

PFC Kevin Patrick Chambers, Army

PVT James A. Champion, Army AND spouse, Evelyn H. Champion

S/SGT Robert Kennon Christensen, Air Force

SP4 Paul Howard Criss, Army

A3C Morris Danzinger, Air Force

TEC 5 Michael M. Dugancevic, Army

SGT James T. Gratt, Marine Corps

PFC Robert R. Lambacher, Army

PFC Marshall A. Packer, Army (found in an abandoned building in Cleveland)

SP4 Earnest Glen Rowe, Army

CAPT Claude E. Sandburg, Army

The Patriot Guard Riders escorted the veterans' remains to Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman Saturday, where they were given a proper military burial.

Anyone with information on these veterans is asked to call the Ohio MIAP.
