One man is still missing after escaping from Glenwood Jail on Friday, according to the Summit County Sheriff's Office.
On Aug. 19 around 3:45 p.m., two inmates escaped from Glenwood Jail, the Summit County Sheriff's Office reported.
The sheriff's office said the two inmates, identified as 24-year-old Daniel Perkins and 26-year-old Jason Shockley, posed as trustees and helped to carry trays out to a van in the parking lot of the jail. When they got to the van, Perkins and Shockley dropped the trays and ran toward Howard Street.
The deputies on scene secured the other inmates and notified the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office sent deputies from the jail to locate the inmates. Surrounding law enforcement agencies were also notified.
Perkins, of Akron, was located and arrested for escape, the sheriff's office said.
Shockley, also of Akron, is still at large. Summit County Sheriff Inspector Bill Holland said Shockley was in jail for safecracking, theft and breaking and entering.
Glenwood Jail is operated by the Oriana House, but has security provided by the Summit County Sheriff's Department.
Oriana House said Glenwood is a minimum security facility. It does not have individual cells that locl, but the doors to get into the facility do lock. Glenwood is used for overflow when the Summit County Jail is overcrowded.
